Meet Bridget!

October 21, 2018

1. Bridget!! We are so excited to have you a part of the #SpeakYourSilence crew. Tell us how you first learned about SYS?
I’m so excited to be part of the crew!!! I actually heard about Speak Your Silence 3 years ago from a close friend who volunteered with Matt. She came over one night, brought all of us the stitch kits (can someone say throwback?!), told us all about the heart of Speak Your Silence and how much it has helped her become confident in telling her story. I have been a big fan ever since! It’s a dream getting to work for a company that champions and values each and every person we come into contact with.

2. Tell us a little bit about yourself? Likes, dislikes, things you can’t live without, any fun facts?
Gosh, where to start? I guess I’ll start with my dislike. Seems like a good idea to just get it out onto the table so we can just move on after that. Are you ready? Here it goes: I strongly dislike (because my mom & dad taught me to never use the word hate) tomatoes, I know what you’re thinking “How?! They are sooooo good. How can you not like them. I can just eat them like an apple?” Honestly., thinking about that repulses me. In my entire 26 (about to be 27) years of life, I have NEVER liked tomatoes. Don’t try and convince me to get into them, either, because you never will. It’s not you, it’s tomatoes.

I can’t live without my dog and bring him almost everywhere I go! His legal name is Mac Daddy 2 Chainz (yes, with a Z) but I just call him Mac or Mac Daddy for short. He is a golden retriever and was born on the 4th of July. So obviously, he is the most stereotypical & patriotic golden retriever  😉
I’m a big fan of: avocados, Chips & Salsa, every type of cheese, finding new books, painting my nails crazy fun colors, adding records to my collection, drinking copious amounts of coffee, going on late night bike rides, bring home new succulents, staying up way to late watching New Girl and laughing with my besties, otter pops, La Croix, and spontaneous trips to the mountains & hot springs.
Fun Fact: I HAD 3 sets of front teeth. It’s a long story, I’ll tell ya over a cup of coffee sometime.

3. As the designated Bus Driver and Outreach Manager, what are you most excited about?
So many things! This is such a fun position that is so new to Speak Your Silence, which can get a little crazy sometimes, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! It’s such an honor to be able to pioneer this position for future outreach managers and other bus drivers! I am just really excited to get out into the community. I am SUCH a people person and I love talking to people. So the fact that I get to go out and share the heart and the mission of Speak Your Silence is wild to me! It just doesn’t seem real sometimes that this is my job! I have to pinch myself every other day just to make sure that I am not dreaming.

4. Can you share what a typical day looks like for you as Speak Your Silence’s Outreach Manager?

Honestly, it varies from day to day and every day looks a little different, which I love!! I have never been the type of person who has been good with an 8-5, sit behind a computer type of person. So, some days, I am out doing back to back events, other days I am out talking with companies and sharing the mission of Speak Your Silence! At least once a week, I am in the office just brainstorming, talking through ideas with Matt and sending out product!! Once a week I like to go to a local coffee shop, enjoy a cup of coffee, answer emails, write some blogs, and book events!

5. Do you have a dream location to take the bus?
I don’t really have a specific location to take the bus. It would be a dream of mine to take the bus on a Coast-to Coast trip!!! I would love to stop at college campuses and high schools along the way and share who we are! Just as long as I end up in Disneyland or Disneyworld. 😉

6. When you’re not busy driving the bus around or scheduling events, what brings you joy? Or what do you do for fun?
Depends on the season! During the summer I am always outside. You can find me riding my bike, playing volleyball or spike ball, going to hot springs, camping, hiking, wake surfing. Pretty much anything that is outside, I’m there with SPF 50 of course. During the winter you can find me on any mountain with my updated snowboarding playlist, shredding some serious gnar! There is nothing better and more euphoric than being on the summit of a mountain!!

7. Any exciting upcoming bus events you can let us in on? 😉
Ahhh yes!! There are so many fun events that we will be taking the bus to! The one that I am most excited about is our event at Push & Pour later this month! The owners are such rad dudes and are all about partnering with Speak Your Silence, so any time I am there, it’s such a good time! We will also be partnering with a local coffee shop called Caffiena Roasting for the entire month of October! They are creating a special blend of coffee just for Speak Your Silence that will be sold all month long! At the end of the month, we will be having a big party to celebrate!! Keep a lookout on social media as well to see where the bus will be going next, we’ve got big plans for sweet Vanna White!

Make sure to come out to one of our events and say hi to Bridget!! 🙂
