SYS: “Why does wearing The Stitch matter to you?”
JIREH: It is an honor to answer that question. “It saved my life.”
The answer seems so simple, yet so powerful. I found out about #TheStitch when I was in my vulnerable stage of my life. I was 27 years old, when I could no longer handle the pain in my heart, mind, and soul. I felt suicidal and alone.
However, when I read Matt Pipkin’s story, it gave me hope. I was on the point of giving up, but his story encouraged me to seek help. I learned the story behind The Stitch. It reminded me that it doesn’t matter how broken I was, I am not alone. There are people fighting for me.
The Stitch for me is the symbol of my friends, my family, my faith, and other people who are wearing it to remind me that they got my back no matter what. To remind me, that I am not alone in this journey of healing. To remind me, that I am loved, and whole again.
So yes, wearing The Stitch matters to me because “The Stitch saved my life.”
