• 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused prior to age 18. Most victims never disclose with a loved one.  And 9 out of 10 cases of child sexual abuse are never reported to authorities.

  • There are an estimated 39 million adult survivors of child sexual abuse in the US alone.  They equal the combined populations of Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Vermont, Delaware, Kansas, South Dakota, Arkansas, Mississippi, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

  • 93% of victims under the age of 18 know the person that assaulted them; most of whom are friends or family.

  • Individuals who are sexually abused often carry the weight of self blame, shame, guilt, and fear.  Counseling helps to regain a sense of self-esteem, cope with feelings of guilt, and begin the process of overcoming the trauma, removing weight from the heavy backpack.

  • Even if the true prevalence of child sexual abuse is not known, most will agree that there will be 500,000 babies born in the US this year that will be sexually abused before they turn 18 if we do not prevent it.
